Berlin, November 2025. Tesla proudly announces new milestones at its Gigafactory Berlin-Brandenburg, located in Grünheide near Berlin. As Tesla’s first European factory, it has become a symbol of the continent’s transition to sustainable energy and mobility. In 2025, the site reached 800,000 vehicles annual capacity, introduced the refreshed Model Y Juniper, and expanded battery production with cutting-edge 4680 cells.

Battery production

Tesla introduced 4680 cylindrical cells (46×80 mm) at Berlin, delivering 5× more energy per cell and 6× more power. Automotive packs use NCA/NCM chemistry for high energy density, while stationary systems employ LFP chemistry. LFP batteries are particularly interesting: they are cheaper, safer, and last longer, making them ideal for home and grid storage solutions. Structural integration of packs improves vehicle rigidity and reduces weight, while reducing overall production costs by 15–20%.
