In a controlled real‑world run across mixed Swiss routes, the all‑electric Volkswagen ID.7 Pro S covered 794 km on a single charge. The result exceeds the model’s official WLTP figure and highlights how careful driving, consistent conditions, and aero‑efficient design can unlock exceptional range from the 86 kWh battery.
The run combined city streets, open roads, and gentle elevation changes under mild weather. Average speeds were kept moderate to reduce energy loss from braking and aero drag. The outcome reflects best‑case technique rather than typical daily driving, but it demonstrates the platform’s efficiency ceiling when conditions align.
The drive was led by Swiss efficiency expert Felix Egolf, known for hypermiling. He previously set records in the ID.3, covering 531 km from Zwickau to Schaffhausen and later 602 km across Alpine passes with significant altitude gain. His experience again proved how disciplined driving can extend range far beyond WLTP values.
The ID.7 Pro S is the efficiency champion of its series. With aerodynamics as low as 0.23 Cd and short charging times, it balances long‑distance capability with convenience. The optional EV Route Planner further optimizes journeys by suggesting charging stops based on real‑time traffic and battery status.
